Animatics

The video above shows a rough idea to what the video will look like when it is finished. It shows where the music changes and how that would work with the scenes we have planned. This is a an initial idea so it may change when we come to edit the filming. Although we have this plan we have decided to also just film interesting shots on the day. This will mean when it comes to editing we will have a wider selection of shots as well as the ability to change things if it does not fit with the music.

Story Board

I have created these storyboards so that when we are filming we will know what shots we want. It will also mean that we will have an idea to how we want the scene to look like. The storyboard allows us to be organised with our filming and know what needs to be filmed.

Although we have this storyboard the overall effect of the film that we want to create is just people going out and having a fun time. This means that, if on the day of filming, we see something that will fit in with the film we will film it and then during editing we can see if it will fit with the over all aesthetics of the film. We do not want our film to look too structured as we want it to just look like people having a good time by filming interesting things that we see we will be able to keep the film fresh, interesting and appealing to our target audience.

Emails to Actors

Here is an email from one of the actors.
In order to publicise the creation of our video, and need for actors, I had an email sent trough the college to all the students. I had several replies; this is one of them.

-----Original Message----- From: Reed Elliot Sent: 13 October 2009 17:22 To: Steve Pidd Subject: RE: Message on behalf of one of our A2 media students. (Video Project)

hi.
Id probably be interested in doing it :)

-----Original Message----- From: Steve Pidd Sent: Tue 10/13/2009 11:50 AM To: All Students Subject: Message on behalf of one of our A2 media students. (Video Project)

''Hey guys!! Claire Johnson and I are going to start filming our A2 music video project, next week.

The music video will be to the song Feeder - Just a day.

We basically want a video of friends having fun, and doing fun things.

So we want people who are up for a laugh, colourful, brimming with confidence, friendly, and fun, and aren't afraid to do anything bizarre!

We want natural, fun people! Let me know if you want to take part, and I will send you the details of the video! Thankyou,

Emily-Jayne Fletcher.''

Scenes

I have used 'stripgenerator' to create a story board showing our over all idea. 'Stripgenerator' is website that allows you to create different storyboards or strips and then export them onto different blogs or blog on their website. This was a great website to use as it allowed us to see our ideas properly in a storyboard format.

The story boards show each individual scene. We are going to draw each individual scene and then scan this into the computer. The use of the individual scene storyboards will be there to show what camera work will be used where as these storyboards are just here to show our idea. With the individual scene storyboards we can include more detail and plan the filming properly.

The first scene shows the protagonist getting back to her room and turning off the music
Scene two shows everyone at a party having a good time.
The next scene is everyone hanging out, having fun, laughing and joking at a flat.

Scene 4 shows people sitting around a fire, playing guitar, eating and drinking.
Scene 5 shows people hanging out at a skate park, this will show interesting shot types and show off the skills of skateboards and BmX riders.
The next scene, scene 6, shows people at Rotherham/Sheffield fountains, they are going to be running around the fountains, putting in soap bubbles and laughing.

Scene 7 shows people sitting in peace gardens joking around.
Scene 8 shows a girl blowing bubbles and then someone comes and takes her to somewhere fun.
The last scene, scene 9, shows the girl leaning on a wall blowing bubbles and then it ends with a shot of the bubbles in the sky.

Prop requirements

- Bottle of washing up liquid! (Fountains scene)
- Alcohol cans, bottles. (Waking up scene, in house)
-Cigarettes, (Scenes with people hanging out)
-blowing bubbles. (Park scenes)
- COSTUMES: People in normal clothing. We will ask actors to arrive on the days of filming, wearing exciting, colourful clothing.

Permissions regarding using a copyright song

This is a copy of the email we sent to Feeders publishing company regarding the use of one of their songs.

Unfortunately the company did not respond to this email. We have decided to use the song anyway.

Audience Feedback

This video shows the presentation that we gave to the class.

After Claire and I provided our classmates with our presentation, we received back our audience feedback sheets.

An example of the completed feedback sheet:

10/11 people liked idea 1, which was our original Idea, of having friends partying to Feeder - Just A Day.
They all said that the idea was what most teenagers would want to see, and do, and was an original unique idea.
The feedback sheets showed us that the idea was good, as the sheets said that the narrative was a good idea, and would relate better to the song.
I am very pleased that the audience members who filled in the audience feedback sheet all said that they could no suggest anymore ideas to contribute to our idea, as that suggests that we have a good, stable idea, and everyone will enjoy it.

Presentation

This is the PowerPoint presentation that I created to show the three ideas that we have come up with. The presentation will be shown to the rest of the class and will help to explain our ideas. It contains pictures, inspiration and links to videos which help to explain what we want to create with our video. Along with this presentation we have handout sheets that Emily-Jayne has created and blogged about in a previous post.

Presentation Handout Sheet

Claire and I are creating a presentation in order to present our ideas to the class. I have created this audience feedback sheet in order to see their opinions on our ideas, and help us in order to decide what ideas we will be doing.
It is important to gain feedback from our target audience (16-24) in order to confirm whether or not out ideas are appealing to them or not.

Target Audience

The target audience for our video is 16-24 year olds.

The band feeder was established in 1992 which means they already have a large following/fan base. This will also mean that some people who used to like their music no longer appreciates it.

This is video will be there to appeal to a new fan base and get another generation who may not have heard have of the band interested.

By having the 16-24 target audience we need to make sure we film things that will appeal to them. As well as making it clear that is for an older audience and not tweens. This can be established by the themes of the video such as partying as well as the cast, the cast can be the same age as the target audience. By having themes that 16-24 year olds relate to it will get them interested in the music.

Poll Results

After asking our peers what song they preferred and having the poll on the blog we have come to a decision to what song we should choose for our video. By adding a Poll to our blog it meant that other people outside the our classroom could vote for who they preferred. This enabled us to make sure we had a better representation of what people thought and not just the opinions of those in our class.

The graph below shows the result of this poll:

From this information you can see that most people prefer the Feeder song. This confirms what we initially thought, that the Feeder song would be the best to focus on as it is a fun enjoyable song.

The picture below shows how I created the graph on Microsoft office excel.
